Abstract

The development of digital technology has changed the way students gain knowledge, including in programming learning. YouTube, as one of the largest video sharing platforms, has become a popular alternative for students to understand programming concepts visually and practically. This study aims to analyze the level of dependence of Information Systems Study Program students on YouTube as the main source in learning programming. The research method used is a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 24 respondents of Islamic University students, Class of 2023. The results of the analysis show that most students actively use YouTube to understand programming material that is difficult to understand through conventional lectures. However, high dependence also poses challenges such as reduced academic literacy skills and critical assessment of information. This study recommends the integration of verified YouTube content into the curriculum so that students can utilize this media optimally and in a balanced manner.
